People were at the core of the discussions in the forum. Main speaker, Mr. Rebustillo talked about the role of human resources in an organization and its place in the management process. He discussed the three main areas of human resource management – acquisition, maintenance, and development. He talked about employee discipline and worker’s rights, career planning and counseling, and trends in human resource management.
The theme is deemed timely seeing that in today’s globalized economy the key to global competitiveness is productivity. And people are at the center of any productivity improvement efforts. This was the gist of the talk of the second speaker Sylvia P. Piano chief of the Training and Consulting Division of the government agency National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC). Ms. Piano presented the agency’s ISTIV program. An acronym for the five ideal attributes of a productive person (Industrious, Systematic, Time-conscious, Innovative and strong Value for work) ISTIV is a values-based HR strategy for quality and productivity improvement developed by the NWPC. The program is specifically designed for small and medium enterprises (SME) in the service and agriculture sector and uses full-cycle training approach.
Mr. Henry R. Balcos, Senior Analyst of the Social Security System then talked about the Social Security System, the benefit packages for members, employer and employee contributions, and loan programs. He also showed the different forms that the agency requires making the audience familiar with them and their specific uses.
Lastly, Ms. Ella Igarta, owner of DEPS IMAGING Studio Works delivered a meaningful speech, “Empleyado Ko, Mahal Ko” regarding love and value for employees.
After each talk, the participants were given time to ask questions which the speakers promptly answered resulting to fruitful discussions and understanding of issues.
Through the support of the sponsors, speakers, and the active sharing of the participants, the 18th kapihang Entrepinoy was a resounding success. See you in the next Kapihan!
